Previous components to this trip:
Singapore – London on Singapore Airlines, First Class
London – Calgary on British Airways BA103, B787, Business Class

On my last trip to Canada in 2016, I stayed at four different hotels: Robson SuitesThe YWCA HotelTimes Square Hotel, and The Westin Wall Centre, Vancouver Airport Hotel.

This time, as I was flying into Calgary and out of Vancouver, I had to stay at hotels along the way.

Rather than go into detail for any of the hotels, I’ve just listed them, with some photos and some general scores of rooms, service, food.

Best Western Plus, Calgary

This was the first hotel I stayed at, and because I arrived quite late at night from London on BA103, I didn’t really get a chance to take many photos so apologies for that.

Room   7 – didn’t take a photo this time around.

Service 7 – reception was very helpful

Food   6 – breakfast was just ok

Overall 7

The breakfast was really substantial, but quite bland.

Banff Inn, Banff

Room   7 – clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean.

Service 6 – would have scored higher if reception were a bit more forthcoming with information (regarding when breakfast) and advice (suggestions for dinner)

Food  6 – breakfast was only average

Overall 6

Room 8 – near the city of Vancouver, so obviously you are expecting a higher quality of room

Service 8 – reception/breakfast and staff generally were proactive in helping with issues/questions etc

Food  8 – as befits an international chain, the breakfast was the best of the hotels.
